At a first glance, Jing seems like a simple screenshot utility, but it is actually more than that. The application gives you the possibility of sharing your screenshots and screen recordings over the Internet. The entire process is quite fast and it is also very easy. Whenever you need to show something on your screen to a friend or coworker, this application will make it possible.

Jing works in the background, but its screen capturing options can be accessed on the fly. Options for capturing the screen, viewing a capture history and for opening a general settings menu can be found on an animated sun icon, in the upper right corner of the screen. Once you hit the capturing option, you will have to draw a rectangle, after which you can choose to record in that selected region, take a snapshot and more.

A clear advantage is the fact that screenshots are saved immediately, so there is no need to go through any menus or to open an editor, just to save an image file. Furthermore, Screenshots and recordings can be uploaded to screencast.com and shared on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. Uploading them on a FTP server, sending them by email or creating a share link for distributing or posting on a website are other possibilities.

When it comes to capturing and sharing a computer's screen, there are not many applications that can match Jing's capabilities.

Pros

Taking snapshots or recording the screen can be done at a moment's notice. The screenshots and recordings can be uploaded and shared on the Internet. What's more, Jing is absolutely free and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons

There are no clear disadvantages to mention.
